Blog Hop Reveal!

Kristi Bowman of Kristi Bowman Designs is hosting a wonderful hop called the Copper Big Hole Challenge and I was lucky enough to join in.  The challenge was to make something using one of her wonderful focals that she made using Precious Metal Clay or PMC as it is sometimes called.  You can learn more about it at Cool Tools by clicking HERE.  This was my first time coming into contact with this medium and if Kristi had not told me it was PMC I would have never known.  It is amazing stuff!

Also one of my favorite groups on Facebook is Creative Bead Chat.  They also are having a reveal on July 1st and I had joined in on that one as well so I decided to make 1 piece for both hops.  Their theme was Dreaming of Sun and Sea.  So without further ado here is what I made:

Isn't that Focal Beautiful!

Stacked Bracelets seem to be all the rage right now, so I decided to give them a try except I wanted it for my ankle.  This just screams beach and summer to me I am really happy with how they turned out.  I wanted to try my hand at something besides beadweaving, but of course I had to add my little seeds in the piece regardless.

I need to shave!  Ha!
Here are the 3 pieces that I used to make this stacked set:

The main focal piece of the stack in which I used Kristi's PMC piece and added size 6/0 seed beads using macrame.  I used a bone colored paper cord for this part and even though you cannot see the clasp I used a paper bead there as well.

This was done in a spiral knot using cotton where I also added the 6/0 seed beads to tie it in with the main focal.  I used a button closure on this.

I made this using a tutorial made by Lesley Watt of The Gossiping Goddess and the tutorial can be found HERE.  I am really excited about this technique and I do believe I will be using it again.  Thank you Lesley for sharing!

Thank you so much for joining me and be sure to check out the other lovely creations!

  13. Fun! I still remember learning macrame from my Aunt back in the mid-70s. It's fun seeing it come back into it's own again and used in so many lovely ways.

  14. I LOVE this stacked set. It totally makes me want to go to the beach. And that is some seriously sexy jewels for your ankle...no one will even notice if you shaved or not if you're wearing them. Maybe I should make stuff for my ankles too...

  15. Wow Marla, You did a fantastic job on the anklets! I love them they are very, very pretty. I like how you put the beads down the side on the one you did with Kristi's focal. I have the supplies to do Lesley's tutorial, so now instead of a bracelet I'm going to do an anklet, because I think it looks good around the ankle.
