Warmth

I am currently taking an online class from Marcie Abney from La Bella Joya and this is my first finished piece. I love it! Marcie is such a fantastic teacher!

You can see more of Marcie's work at http://labellajoya.blogspot.com/ . I have to admit that she is the reason I wanted to start doing this after coming across her work in a forum. Her work inspires me so much. Thanks Marcie for all that you do for the beading community!

  1. Marla, I am so happy that you started a blog! I hope you will continue to post. I would love to see more of your embroidery work. Your Sound of the Sea pendant is so lovely! I see that your size 8 beads did not line up perfectly. That is the same problem I am having. When you look at Marcie's pendant, the 8s are all straight. I can't figure out how she does this. I left her a question asking about this. I hope she has the answer. She did say to change beads to thicker or thinner ones, but I still can't get it. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of what you do! I will post my pieces too, if I can ever get them done!! P.S. I love the name of your blog!

  2. Thanks Doreen for your kind words! Yes they did not line up straight either and I think the size of the beads have a huge part in that. I ordered mine from fusion and they are more hex like then rounded which I do not like. I do not believe I will be ordering the same beads from them again.

I am still playing around with the format on my blog and I really need to make a banner. I am in retail management and we have a huge parking lot sale coming up this weekend so I hope to get to it next week. For now this will have to do. I am glad you liked the name! I wanted to use Sparkle Pretty but as I am drawn more to earth tones and natural stones it didn't really fit lol. Thanks so much for being my first follower. It really means a lot!

  3. Marcie is great isn't she, she is also one of the reasons I started a blog and one of the first blogs I followed. I have purchased a few of her tutorials and did two of her color challenges. I have a problem sometimes with my beads not wanting to lay right, but I don't worry about it because it gives character. Which brings me to say I think your pendant is beautiful out of line beads and all.
